Linux.conf.au 2011: Call for Papers
Next year's
linux.conf.au open source conference (lca2011) will take place from Monday the 24th to Saturday the 29th of January in Brisbane, Australia. First hosted in Brisbane in 2002, Linux.conf.au has since grown to be one of the premier Linux events in Australia and South-East Asia.
Discussing the 2011 conference, lca2011 director Shaun Nykvist said, "We're mindful of the important role that this conference plays in the F/OSS community both here in Australia and internationally," adding that, "We are focussed on bringing knowledgeable and exciting speakers, the latest and finest of Linux and F/OSS expertise, and also a few innovations to Brisbane lca in January 2011."
The conference organisers are currently seeking submissions from attendees for presentations, talks and tutorials. Proposals of papers can cover any aspect of the open source community. Suggested topics include various aspects of kernel development, database and file system developments, the desktop user experience, development and open source culture. Presentations should last approximately 45 minutes, while tutorials can range from 1 hour and 45 minutes (short) to 3 hours and 30 minutes (long).
The theme for the 2011 conference is "follow the flow", meaning that users, developers and organisations should follow the growing movement of open source, from the kernel level to libre graphics. The organisers note that they are also
seeking proposals for a one-day community organised
mini-conference.
More details about submitting papers, including suggested topics and requirements, can be found on the
Papers Information page. Those interested in submitting a presentation or tutorial are asked to do so as soon as possible. The call for papers deadline is the 7th of August, 2010. Successful proposals will be notified in September 2010.
